    Itinerary:

3 Days from Fes to Marrakech via the Sahara Desert

    Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga

Our 3 Days from Fes to Marrakech Tour begins with pickup from your hotel or riad in Fes.

We leave the ancient city behind and travel south toward the Middle Atlas Mountains.

The scenery gradually changes from the urban environment of Fes to forests, mountains, valleys, and traditional rural landscapes.

Ifrane – The Alpine Town of Morocco

Our first stop is Ifrane, a unique mountain town known for its alpine-style architecture, clean streets, cool climate, and surrounding forests.

Ifrane offers a fascinating contrast to the traditional architecture of Fes and the desert landscapes we will discover later.

We take some time to enjoy the town before continuing through the Middle Atlas Mountains.

    Cedar Forests and Barbary Macaques

We continue through the beautiful cedar forests of the Middle Atlas.

The region is home to the famous Barbary macaques, and we may have an opportunity to stop in the forest area.

The forest landscape is one of the most interesting contrasts of the journey because within a few hours we will move from green mountain forests toward the arid landscapes of the Sahara.

    Midelt

We continue toward Midelt, a mountain town located between the Middle Atlas and High Atlas regions.

Midelt is particularly known for its apples and agricultural production.

We stop for lunch before continuing toward southeastern Morocco.

As we travel farther south, the landscape becomes increasingly dry and rocky.

    Ziz Valley

One of the scenic highlights of the journey is the Ziz Valley.

The valley is famous for its enormous palm groves, traditional villages, and dramatic rocky surroundings.

We stop at a panoramic viewpoint where we can appreciate the contrast between the green oasis and the surrounding arid landscape.

After the visit, we continue toward Merzouga.

    Arrival in Merzouga

As we approach Merzouga, the landscape changes dramatically.

The rocky desert gives way to the enormous golden dunes of Erg Chebbi.

Merzouga is located at the edge of this spectacular Sahara dune system and serves as the starting point for our desert adventure.

    Camel Trekking in Erg Chebbi

In the afternoon, we meet our camel guides and begin our camel trek through the Erg Chebbi dunes.

We ride across the golden sand toward our desert camp.

The peaceful rhythm of the camel ride allows us to enjoy the vastness of the Sahara and admire the changing colors of the dunes.

Along the way, we stop to take photographs and enjoy the scenery.

    Sahara Sunset

We stop on the dunes to watch the spectacular Sahara sunset.

As the sun approaches the horizon, the dunes change from golden yellow to orange and red.

After sunset, we continue to our desert camp.

Overnight in a Sahara Desert Camp

Upon arrival, we check into our desert accommodation and have time to relax.

We enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner followed by Berber music and drumming around the campfire.

Away from city lights, the Sahara offers an incredible atmosphere for enjoying the night sky.

We spend the night in the desert beneath the stars.

Day 2: Merzouga – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley – Ouarzazate

We recommend waking early on the second morning to experience the spectacular Sahara sunrise.

Sunrise Over the Erg Chebbi Dunes

We climb a nearby dune and watch the first rays of sunlight illuminate the desert.

The colors of the dunes gradually change as the sun rises.

After sunrise, we return to the camp for breakfast.

We then begin our journey toward the valleys and mountains of southern Morocco.

From Merzouga Through the Desert Landscapes

We leave Merzouga and travel through southeastern Morocco.

The landscape includes rocky plateaus, desert valleys, traditional villages, and palm groves.

As we continue west, the scenery gradually becomes more mountainous.

    Todra Gorge

We reach the spectacular Todra Gorge, one of the most impressive natural attractions in Morocco.

Massive limestone cliffs rise on both sides of the narrow valley.

We take time to walk through the gorge, enjoy the dramatic scenery, and take photographs.

The area is also popular with hikers and rock climbers.

    Dades Valley

After visiting Todra Gorge, we continue toward the beautiful Dades Valley.

The valley is known for its dramatic rock formations, palm groves, traditional villages, and ancient kasbahs.

We travel along sections of the famous Road of 1,000 Kasbahs, one of southern Morocco’s most scenic routes.

The changing landscapes provide excellent opportunities for photography.

    Valley of Roses

We continue through the Valley of Roses, known for its rose cultivation and traditional rose products.

During the flowering season, the valley becomes particularly attractive, with gardens and fields surrounding the traditional villages.

    We continue toward Ouarzazate.

Ouarzazate – Gateway to the Sahara

We arrive in Ouarzazate, a city famous for its kasbahs, desert landscapes, and film studios.

Depending on the arrival time, we can explore some of the city’s surroundings before checking into our accommodation.

    Overnight in Ouarzazate

We spend the night in a comfortable hotel or traditional guesthouse in Ouarzazate.

Day 3: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech

After breakfast, we begin the final day of our Fes to Marrakech desert tour.

Our journey takes us from the landscapes of southern Morocco across the High Atlas Mountains toward Marrakech.

    Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah

Our first major stop is the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah.

This ancient fortified village, known as a ksar, is one of Morocco’s most recognizable historical landmarks.

The settlement is characterized by traditional earthen architecture, narrow streets, defensive walls, towers, and beautiful views over the surrounding landscape.

We explore the kasbah and learn about its history and traditional architecture.

Ait Ben Haddou has also been used as a filming location for numerous international movies and television productions.

    Crossing the High Atlas Mountains

After visiting Ait Ben Haddou, we continue toward the High Atlas Mountains.

We travel along the winding mountain roads toward the Tizi n’Tichka Pass.

The route offers spectacular views of mountain peaks, valleys, villages, and dramatic landscapes.

We make several stops along the way to enjoy the scenery and take photographs.

    Tizi n’Tichka Pass

The Tizi n’Tichka Pass is one of the most scenic sections of the journey.

As we cross the mountains, the landscape gradually changes from the dry scenery of southern Morocco to the greener environment around Marrakech.

The road descends toward the plains, marking the final part of our journey.

    Arrival in Marrakech

We continue toward Marrakech, one of Morocco’s most famous destinations.

Depending on traffic and road conditions, we normally arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon or evening.

We provide drop-off at your hotel, riad, or another convenient location.
